In the Skyrise building in Cebu, Philippines, a fraud center disguised as a legitimate company has operated and executed more than 80 cases in the past year. $10,000 Cryptocurrency Scam. However, a YouTuber named "Mrwn" who specializes in exposing scams, after a year of careful investigation, exposed the gang's evil deeds and prompted the Philippine government to intervene in the investigation.
YouTuber Mrwn went undercover to expose the fraud
The reason why this fraud case came to light was that Mrwn’s friend received a suspicious call in mid-2024, and the other party promoted the Quantum AI investment plan. Mrwn immediately launched an investigation and used social engineering techniques to successfully penetrate the fraud center's internal system and obtain on-site surveillance footage and computer access rights. Even though the fraud group moved its offices many times, Mrwn continued to keep track of its dynamics and identified two core figures: "Marcus" (real name Antonio, serving as on-site supervisor) and "Adam" (suspected pseudonym, using an Israeli phone number).
After a year-long search for evidence, Mrwn collected a large number of audio recordings, internal information and financial statements, confirming that the group’s annual revenue was approximately US$820,000, with a net profit of approximately US$365,000 after deducting rent and wages. Investigations also show that fraud groups frequently use exchanges such as Binance, Netcoin, and Coins.ph to transfer funds.
The fraud group collapsed after the confrontation
In early 2025, the fraud group moved to the Gallery Building in Cebu. Mrwn once again broke through its network protection, obtained the surveillance footage of the new office, and pretended to be "Adam" to upload surveillance screenshots to the community, causing fraud members to panic.
Subsequently, Mrwn even directly confronted the fraudster through the laptop microphone of the office manager Antonio. Since Mrwn directly released the camera footage, members of the group can be seen fleeing the office site one after another until the server and monitoring system went offline the next day, indicating that operations had been forced to interrupt.
The operation methods of the fraud center are exposed
Mrwn’s video received more than 3.4 million views in one month. According to his explanation, the fraud group used multiple names such as BMJ Data Processing Services and Virtual Wealth Exchange to defraud, and took advantage of the low labor costs and English skills in the Philippines to target victims in South Africa, Nigeria, and Gulf countries.
Members of the group use professional words to promote false crypto investment products, such as Quantum AI and Bitcoin Code, claiming to obtain high weekly returns of 30% to 40% to attract investors to remit money.
Mrwn also revealed the scammer's 14-page script: he starts with a cordial greeting and gradually guides the victim to invest money. Emotional manipulation is used in the process, such as questioning whether the other party "wants to be poor forever" and pretending to be a local company to build trust... In addition to promoting fake platforms, fraud groups also steal credit card information and ask victims to transfer money through Bitcoin ATMs.
Philippine government response
Later, Mrwn submitted the investigation information to multiple government units in the Philippines. Only the Ministry of Justice responded and recommended that the case be reported locally, but the case could not be completed because Mrwn was not in the Philippines. However, after the video attracted attention on the Internet, Renato Paraiso, Assistant Secretary of the Philippines Department of Information and Communications Technology, responded publicly at an online press conference, promising to launch a formal investigation, and said:
"Mrwn's investigation has provided important clues. There are currently many people involved in the case. We will continue to pursue it, strive to identify the facts of the crime and arrest the relevant persons."
